BMW has restored and retuned this classic 1970 BMW Alpini 2002ti. After spending 24 years in storage, the automaker purchased the vehicle and got to work. You can see the results are pretty incredible, although BMW hasn’t released any details on what they may have done under the hood, we love the color scheme and the flared fenders seen in the preview images. But the best part of the story may be that BMW will be bringing the car back to where it belongs: the racing circuit. According to BMW, this particular Alpina was last seen on a track in 1971 and 1972, competing in SCCA events.

BMW has announced the car will participate in the Rolex Monterey Motorsport Reunion at Laguna Seca in California, driven by the very lucky Road & Track editor Sam Smith. The race takes place August 14-17, 2014, and we can’t wait to see some video of this car in action.
