Monster Tajima’s Pikes Peak Record Attempt

Nobuhiro “Monster” Tajima returned to the 2014 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb to attempt to beat his own world record time for climbing the 12.42 mile course, which he set at 9:46.53 in 2013. Najima has a vaunted history with Pikes Peak in both electric and petrol vehicles, having competed there and placed many times over the past 25 years.

You can watch Tajima’s entire run in the GoPro video above. I find it a bit disorienting to watch a racer zip up the hillside so quickly with just the sound of a golf cart. Unfortunately, he had a problem with his motor cutting out during the race, meaning that he ended up third place for the electric modified division. The Mitsubishi team won the Electric Modified class with its MiEV Evolution III.
