Plowkhana: Drifting in a 1956 Volvo Tractor

What would you do if you owned an old Volvo BM Terrier farm tractor and had a automotive team at the ready? What about adding a roll cage, boosting the engine to 225 horsepower, reinforcing the suspension, adding a four-point harness, and taking the tractor out for a bit of drifting? That’s what the folks at Vianor did with theirs, and the results are spectacular.

First, it’s great to see a driver who’s got a professional support team at the ready with coffee and biscuits to start the day and emergency donuts when needed. And driver Rickard Nilsson holds up his end of the bargain, hooning the old Volvo through barns, across farms, and around the country roads all while drifting and burning those giant 13.6″ x 28″ rear tires. Looks like great fun to us, but perhaps they should’ve hitched a plow to the back and got some work done at the same time.
