We recently got our first look at the redesigned 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata, but all we got to see was some still images and the car that was up on stage for the announcement. Here’s the first video footage of the little roadster, in which we get to see the car from a few more angles. It looks especially impressive from the side to me. In fact, from the side or rear it looks kind of like a mini version of the F-Type if you use your imagination and squint real hard.

While I still really love where Mazda is going with its updated, more aggressive look, the guys at Jalopnik were kind enough to point out that it looks like an angry, buck-toothed bunny rabbit when fitted with a front license plate. This just makes me even more angry that so many places require a front license plate. They really destroy the look of so many cool cars. >>Gets off of soapbox.<<

At any rate, the 2016 MX-5 Miata is still a good looking car. Now we wait for official specs to find out if the new Miata has the power to back up its looks. It’ll surely still sport a tiny 4-cylinder engine, but I’m still holding out hope that Mazda soups it up with a turbocharger – though I’m not holding my breath.
