Nissan’s Hybrid ZEOD RC on the Top Gear Test Track

Nissan’s hybrid electric ZEOD RC Le Mans race car is certainly a strange looking vehicle, but it made history when the all-electric racer completed the first all-electric lap at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Unfortunately, the car didn’t complete the event, completing just five laps before experiencing gearbox issues at the 23 minute mark.

But that’s not the end for the ZEOD, not only is the technology being used to help improve the Nissan GT-R LM racer, but Top Gear got their hands on the ZEOD and took it for a spin around their test track. Editor Ollie Marriage gets behind the wheel of the 700hp racer and puts it through its paces. Clearly, he’s impressed with the car’s performance, even spinning out on the first lap when he underestimated its capabilities.
