2015 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack Previewed

The Volkswagen Alltrack takes some of its design cues from Audi’s popular Allroad wagon, with a more rugged exterior that includes dark plastic sideskirts and wheel arches. The VW also comes with a honeycomb radiator grille and 17-inch alloy wheels that are specific to the Alltrack. Ground clearance is also 20mm (~0.75 inches) higher than a regular Golf wagon.

VW hasn’t released images of the Alltrack’s interior, but it will come with a touch screen infotainment system, Alltrack-specific dashboard trim, and a leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel. For Europe, the new car will come with one of three TDI diesel engines (108hp, 148hp, or 181hp) or a gasoline-powered turbo four-cylinder engine rated at 177hp. It will come with either a manual transmission or a six-speed dual-clutch DSG automatic. The drivetrain also includes Volkswagen’s latest 4Motion all-wheel drive system with an electronic locking front differential and hill descent control.

Volkswagen will be showing the new Golf Alltrack wagon at the 2014 Paris Motor Show this October. The vehicle is scheduled to go on sale in the European market in the summer of 2015, but there’s no word on whether it will be brought to the U.S.
