World’s Greatest Drag Race 4

The guys at Motor Trend have the rare ability to gather together a number of the best sports cars on the road in one place. Every so often, they conduct a drag race between the cars they get their hands on, and for the last several years, they’ve been producing a series called “World’s Greatest Drag Race.”

The series is basically a 1/4-mile straight-line shootout between 10 cars on an abandoned airstrip. Here’s a list of the competitors: Alfa Romeo 4C, BMW i8, BMW M4, Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, Ford Fiesta ST, Jaguar F-Type R Coupe, Nissan GT-R Nismo, Porsche 911 Turbo S, Subaru WRX STI & Volkswagen Golf GTI.

Noticeably absent from the group are hypercars like the Porsche 918, McLaren P1, and Ferrari LaFerrari, as well as any cars from Lamborghini, but it’s still pretty cool to see the cars they did manage to secure.

Next year, we’re hoping they get a Dodge Challenger Hellcat. Sure, it’s a heavy car, but with 707 horsepower, I’m betting it’ll finish somewhere in the top 3.
