Rolls-Royce Phantom Metropolitan Collection

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has announced its latest offerings for those interested in a bespoke edition of the Rolls-Royce Phantom. Just 20 examples of The Metropolitan Collection Phantom’s will be built on commission, each paying homage to one of the world’s great metropolises. Each, of course, will be hand-crafted by Rolls-Royce in Goodwood, England.

The Metropolitan theme begins with one-of-a-kind hand-crafted marquetry created through the inlaying hundreds of individual veneer pieces. The pieces are done on the Phantom’s signature picnic tables and show an elevated view of the city. When the table is closed, a different view of the cityscape is shown. But the theme extends beyond Rolls-Royce’s unmatched woodwork. Each example will be finished in a Aetherius Grey leather interior created to echo the color palette of the modern city and 6,800 two-tone stitches are added to the rear seat flutes to depict an abstract image of a skyscraper. Finally, each sedan will be offered in Darkest Tungsten, a color also inspired by city skylines, although customers will have their choice of pretty much any color they can imagine.

The Metropolitan Collection is another beautiful example of custom Rolls-Royce vehicles available only to a limited few. No word on a collection based on the world’s mid-sized suburbs, but I’d be interested in seeing a Naperville, Illinois model, or maybe Richardson, Texas edition?
