A McLaren P1 vs. Ferrari LaFerrari Showdown

The hybrid hypercar race heated up dramatically in the last 18 months, seeing the release of the Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder. Ben Barry and Chris Carlton of CAR Magazine managed to get two of these three impressive sports cars out for a test drive at the same time.

While both the McLaren and Ferrari tout 900+ horsepower hybrid drivetrains, the Ferrari has about 50 more horses, and weighs almost 500 pounds less than the P1. Also, the LaFerrari’s steering outperforms the McLaren’s, and tends towards oversteer. On the other hand, the McLaren is easier to drive, and more forgiving thanks to its tendency to understeer.

While I’d be happy with either of these cars, my personal experience is that Ferraris are generally more fun to drive than McLarens as well. What do you guys think?
