Chris Harris on the Tech of the Mercedes AMG GT

Chris Harris recently had a chance to get behind the wheel of the purported “Porsche 911 killer” from Mercedes-Benz, the AMG GT coupe. With a 4.0-liter 456-horsepower turbocharged V8 engine, a specialized 7-speed Getrag dual clutch transmission, and hydraulic steering, Harris takes a look at just how well the new AMG GT stacks up against Porsche’s sports car.

Harris first walks us around a skeletal version of the car, where we can see just how the twin turbos are situated on the V8 engine, the car’s incredible performance suspension, and that new, much-improved gearbox. Then he takes us around Laguna Seca Raceway to see just how the car does on the track. You’ll have to watch the video to see what he thinks and how it compares to the 911. In the meantime, you can drive one yourself in the PS4 game, DriveClub.
