Irv Gordon of Long Island, New York, has been driving his loyal 1966 Volvo p1800 for 46 years. Barcroft Cars paid a visit to him to discuss his love of driving and how he logged so many miles. As of the filming of the segment, Gordon was just 6,000 miles short of the 3-million mile barrier, but since then he’s eclipsed that mark and is still going.

Gordon continues to love the car ever since the day he bought it, having spent $4,150 (USD) for it, which at the time was his entire year’s salary. He drives an average of 60,000 per year, traveling all around the United States and even around the world.

Gordon holds the official Guinness World Record for the highest mileage vehicle. At the time it was awarded in 2009, he was still just over 2.7 million miles. He’s also willing to sell the classic Volvo, for a price of just $1 per mile.
