McLaren Goes Back to the Racetrack

McLaren and Honda are excited to be teaming up once again in the world of Formula 1 racing with drivers Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button. In fact, they even created this Back to the Future video in which the part of the DeLorean is played by a McLaren 650S. Now, the 650S can hit 60 mph in just 3 seconds, so getting up to 88 mph to travel through time should be no problem at all.
It’s been 22 years since McLaren and Honda last raced together and Alonso and Button first consider heading back to the salad days of 1988 in which the McLaren-Honda partnership produced the fabled MP4/4 race car in which Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost, beginning with the Brazilian Grand Prix, won an incredible 15 of the season’s 16 races. Instead, they choose to move ahead to the start of the 2015 season in Melbourne.
Good luck to the McLaren-Honda team this season. Perhaps they’ll repeat their incredible success of 1988 without the need for a hoverboard; instead, they’ll be racing in the brand new MP4-30.
