Tooling Around SoCal’s Canyons in an F-Type R

In this video, The Smoking Tire’s Matt Farah takes the 2015 Jaguar F-Type R Coupe for a ride through California’s Latigo Canyon. As I can speak from personal experience, the outgoing RWD F-Type is a blast to drive, what with the tremendous amount of torque headed to the rear wheels, along with what is still arguably one of the best exhaust notes around. That said, it’s a bit of a handful in the corners if you don’t know what you’re doing, and that’s part of why Jaguar is moving to an all-wheel drivetrain for its V8s in 2016.

What makes this video particularly great is that Matt has to drive along in some everyday traffic in the car, so you get a good idea what it’s like to own a powerful sports car in a much more realistic setting than the tracks and closed circuits you often see them reviewed on. He also shows us why it’s not the greatest thing to test drive a sports car at the end of its time in the press fleet, as this one has definitely had some wear put on it.
