Inside the McLaren 650S Spider

Written by Paul Strauss | March 20, 2015

The McLaren 650S is one of those supercars that speaks for itself. It’s visually stunning, insanely powerful, handles well, and costs more than a house. I’ve driven its predecessor MP4-12C, but have yet to take the 650S for a ride, so I’ll have to live vicariously through others for now.

While you’d think a car like the 650S should spend most of its time on the track, our pals over at Gadget Review show this British supercar car fitting in just fine on the public roads. In their review video, host Christen da Costa got behind the wheel of the 650S Spider and took it for a spin around sunny Southern California.

The 650S packs a 650hp, 3.8L twin-turbo V8, capable of launching the car from 0-to-60 in just 2.9 seconds, and is loaded with high-tech features both for its handling and for convenience. Unsurprisingly, the car can drive fast and draws gawkers wherever it goes, but what’s pleasantly surprising is just how elegant and comfortable the interior looks.
