Jeep Renegade Trailhawk Proves Its a Real Jeep

I have always had a soft spot for Jeeps since my dad owned one way back in the day and took me off-roading in it. The off-road capabilities of the classic 4x4s are impressive. I have wondered since the new Renegade came onto the market if it was fit for off-roading or not. It appears the quirky, Italian-built 2015 Renegade is indeed 100% Jeep under its strange exterior.

The guys over at Autoblog got to spend some time with the Renegade Trailhawk in the wilds of Moab, Utah, and the little Jeep was able to make it over some terrain that I wouldn’t have though it capable of handling.

The gang says that the Renegade crawled over some big rocks in its 4×4 Selec-Terrain Rock mode. They did need someone directing them on where to steer, but just about anyone would need that sort of assistance if they don’t want to mess up their pretty new car. Jeep thinks the main competition for the Renegade is the Nissan Juke, which I happen to own. I would never take an AWD Juke off-road on a trail like the Renegade was able to handle. Apparently, the whole reason Jeep had car geeks out to Moab in the Renegade was to prove that it is a real Jeep, and prove it they did.
