Ten Cars that Rocked Us into the New Millennium

Some Top 10 car lists lay ground rules, such as limiting the selection to vehicles that the average gearhead can hope to attain in his or her lifetime. Not so Car Throttle‘s video compilation of their choice for the 10 coolest cars of the 2000s. Only one of the grin-inducing rides in this list could be had for less than six figures when they went on sale in the first decade of the new millennium, that being the 301hp Ford Focus RS2.

Not that I’m complaining. The gorgeous symphony of engine notes alone makes this clip worth the 3:43 investment, and the automotive bling on display should bring a twinkle to the eye of anyone with a pulse. No surprise, the usual suspects appear in the lineup, including the Lamborghini Murcielago, the Ferrari Enzo, the Porsche Carrera GT and the Pagani Zonda F.

Some wildcards creep in among the automotive royalty, including the Alfa Romeo 147 GTA hot hatch and the Audi RS6. Still other selections fit into the memory-jog category of, “Oh yeah, that is very cool,” at least for me: the wicked sounding Mercedes CLK63 Black Series and quirky Ariel Atom.

While it’ll be hard to take your eyes and ears off the cars, the video adds in basic specs and little fun facts along the way. For instance: Did you know the final Enzo to be made was donated to the Vatican? Talk about a Pope-mobile.
