Glow in the Dark Aston Martin Hits Gumball 3000

We’ve seen our fair share of eye-searing automotive paintjobs that pretty much ruin a good thing, but this Aston Martin DBS in nuclear blue glow paint by Nevana Designs isn’t one of them. In fact, if you’re going to go with popping color, this is how you do it – all dolled up for the 2015 Gumball 3000 rally.

The unique paint has been patented by Nevana founder Hamish Scott, thanks to its light storing properties courtesy of a skunkworks sounding property called strontium aluminate. It takes sunlight and stores it, emitting a powerful glow in the wee, dark hours of the night. He even plans on taking this paint tech to market in the form of a UV merchandise line. At least when it comes to automotive form, it’s mated to a 6.0-liter V12 engine good for 510 horsepower, which essentially means you’ll just see a streak of glowing blue blast past you as you wonder what the hell just happened.
