Electric cars are able to make some very impressive runs from a standstill to 60mph. This is because all of their torque is available immediately. If you think the Tesla Model S is fast off the line, check out these German students setting a world record for EV acceleration.
This little racing EV streaked from 0-62mph in just 1.779Â seconds. It beat the previous record holder by a scant 0.006 seconds. Talk about a tight race.
The electric racer cranks out just 134hp, but it weighs in at only 342 pounds. I bet it felt like the driver’s eyeballs were going to be left at the starting line, the way this thing accelerates.
