Tom Cruise Rips up a BMW M3 for Mission Impossible

by John Thomas

You hear a lot about big-time stars doing their own stunts in the movies, but that always sounds like a lot of studio hype to me. Well, in a just released video promoting Tom Cruise’s starring role in Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, we see the mega star behind the wheel of a BMW M3 doing some pretty badass maneuvers.

This short video shot in Morocco shows Cruise powersliding into narrow alleys, careening down a long set of concrete stairs and streaking down a sidewalk just basely missing tall light poles. All the while, his co-star Simon Pegg looks to be freaking out in the passenger seat, claiming that the experience made him “terrified.”

There is one issue with the clip, which several people bring up in the comments. It ends with an incredible reverse jump, with the M3 flying backwards high through the air and crashing violently. Did Cruise do that stunt as well? The video makes it hard to tell, but my guess is no way. Even so, Cruise proves himself to be pretty awesome behind the wheel, and I don’t even want to know how many beautiful M3s they destroyed making those scenes.
