Mercedes Spills the Beans on the 2017 AMG C63

A couple of days ago, we talked a bit about the teaser that Mercedes offered for the AMG C63 S Coupe. That car looked fantastic in the teaser and we wanted hard specs something fierce. Those details have now been unveiled with the official announcement of the powerful sports coupe.

The 2017 Mercedes AMG C63 Coupe comes in C63 and C63 S versions. The difference in the two is power output for the 4.0L bi-turbo V8 engine. In standard C63 form, that V8 makes 469 hp and 479 lb-ft. of torque. In C63 S form, that V8 makes 503 hp and 516 lb-ft. of torque.

The power gap makes little difference in the 0-60mph time with the C63 doing it in 3.9 seconds and the C63 S in 3.8 seconds. The S model gets a much higher 180 mph top speed with the C63 limited to 155 mph. Both cars get electronically controlled and AMG tuned suspension, a limited-slip differential, and a 7-speed paddle shift transmission that shifts quicker than previous models. The S variant also gets AMG’s dynamic engine mounts, which adjust the stiffness of engine mounts depending on whether you’re on the track or looking for street comfort. Pricing is the one spec that Mercedes is not offering at this time.
