Unless you are big into the world of Mercedes-AMG performance specialists, you might not recognize the name Weistec Engineering. The company makes some awe-inspiring performance vehicles, and has decided to take its skills to the race track.
Weistec will run a pair of highly customized Mercedes-AMG GT3 based cars in the Pirelli World Challenge series. The cars will use a 6.3L naturally aspirated V8 engine, which is substantially larger than the 4.0L biturbo V8 that comes from the factory. The company thinks that its deep engineering knowledge with the platform will help it win on the track. Weistec says that it engineers all of its products to be usable on the street, but strong enough for the race track.
The 2016 Pirelli World Challenge Series kicks off March 3 at CoTA in Austin, Texas. The drivers who will pilot the cars are unannounced at this time.
