Donut Media has produced a brilliant, but brief video showing the evolution of the Porsche 911 from 1964 to the present day. In ’94, the 911 cost a mere $6,490, weighed 2,380 pounds and had 130 horsepower. In 1973, the Carrera (Spanish for “race” or “career”) set back buyers $11,785 for the privilege of 207 horsepower and a sweet ducktail spoiler.

The new millennium brought along the 996 with a new platform, featuring “fried egg” headlights and 317 horsepower. The animation concludes with 2016’s GT3 RS in an eye-popping ultraviolet paint job, with 500 horsepower, a magnesium roof and louvers, for the nice price of $175,900. What the video really reveals is how little the 911 has changed over 50-plus years – and that’s a good thing.
