Acura to Kick off Serial Production of New NSX in Late April

Acura has announced that official production of the all-new NSX sports car will begin by the end of next month. Test production is underway at the Performance Manufacturing Center where all NSXes bound for buyers around the world will be constructed. This special PMC factory was designed to build low volume specialty cars and to explore ideas for future quality and craftsmanship.

The NSX will be constructed, assembled, painted, and checked for quality entirely at this 200,000 square foot facility in Marysville, Ohio. The engine for the NSX, a dry sump 3.5L twin turbo V6, will be built at the nearby Anna, Ohio engine plant.a

Each of those engines is built by hand by a single technician, and takes six hours to assemble. The engine is tested for the equivalent of 150 miles to ensure it is ready to hit the track as soon as the car is delivered. All bolts in the engine are hand tightened and torque.
