If you liked what you saw when the 2017 Camaro ZL1 debuted, but wanted something with more wind in your hair you are in luck. Chevrolet has debuted the 2017 ZL1 convertible, and it promises similar performance as the coupe version. Chevy says that the ZL1 was designed from the get-go to be offered as a convertible, and the control systems and chassis carry over unmodified.
The vert gets the same LT4 supercharged 6.2L V8 rated for 640hp and 640 lb-ft of torque the coupe offers. Convertible buyers can opt for the 6-speed manual or the 10-speed automatic gearbox. The car is also fitted with an electronic LSD and Magnetic Ride suspension, and rides on big 20-inch forged aluminum rims, wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires. The convertible top can be lowered at speeds up to 30mph, and lower remotely from the key fob.
Chevy says the ZL1 convertible will go on sale in early 2017. We expect official performance numbers for the convertible and coupe before that launch date, which are likely to both be quite impressive.
