Ariel Atom 3.5R vs. Yamaha YZF R1 vs. Rallycross Racer

Autocar put together a drag race that pitted the Ariel Atom 3.5R against a Yamaha YZF R race motorcycle and a Monster Energy Citroen DS3 Rallycross car. I always like to see how race cars stand up to street-legal cars, even if the Ariel Atom 3.5R is a street car in the loosest sense of the term.

I won’t give away the winner, but surprisingly the Atom easily out-accelerates the motorcycle at the start. We certainly don’t know how good a rider the cyclist was though, it looked like his first launch was problematic in the video. See what you think.
