Venom GT Spyder Was Down 300hp the Day it went 265mph

So going over 100 mph in a convertible is literally a hair-raising experience. The wind buffeting and knowledge that nothing is between your skull and the pavement makes for a nervous experience. I can’t imagine going over twice that fast with the top down. When the Hennessey Venom GT Spyder busted a world record not too long ago by going 265 mph, it turns out the speeding yellow bullet could have probably gone even faster.

A new behind-the-scenes video of the car has turned up from the record setting day and it turns out that the crew at Hennessey went forward with the record attempt even though the car wasn’t operating at full capacity. The Venom GT Spyder had a broken fuel pump that robbed it of about 300 hp.

I can’t help but wonder just how fast the car could have gone had it been at full power. I hope they come back with the car working properly, and show us what it can really do.
