Tiny EV Does 0 to 62 mph in 1.5 Seconds

There are a bunch of hypercars out there that can rocket at insane speeds to 62 mph from a standstill. The Lamborghini Aventador can do the deed in well under 3 seconds. Now a group of students from ETH Zurich and Hochschule Luzern in Switzerland have created an electric racecar that can do the deed in about half that time.

The car, dubbed “Grimsel,” was used to set what the team claims is a new world record for acceleration of an electric car. Apparently, Grimsel was able to rocket from a standstill to 62 mph in just 1.513 seconds, and got there in just about 100 feet. The footage of the car doing the deed isn’t exactly tops, but this is certainly a cool accomplishment regardless of their video production skills.
