Recent reviews of the Porsche 718 Cayman S have zoned in on the disappointing engine note delivered by the new four-cylinder turbo in the car. That criticism will not be an issue for the very limited edition BMW M4 GTS, with only 700 being built globally, a mere 300 destinated for the States. The M4 GTS exhaust note would fit right in at the starting grid for LeMans, with its absolutely ferocious growl.

The sound of the M4 GTS is matched by the fury of its performance capabilities. It’s got a 3-liter turbocharged six cylinder generating 493 horsepower and 442 lb-ft. of torque, with a near-supercar-quick 0-60 sprint to 3.7 seconds, and top speed at 189 miles per hour.

The M4 GTS is bred for the track, and as Carfection’s Alex Goy puts it, “I would hate to drive this on the road. I know the lucky few who get this will drive it on the road. And you’ll probably love it, because it’s a very special thing to be in. But I wouldn’t want to be you guys.”

Then again he says, “Forget that, just have fun. This is wicked. It’s so quick. You can hurl it into a corner, and it’s so easy to modulate. And then you get that noise. This isn’t about having a comfortable ride. This is about speed. It’s unholy.”
