The Wonderful Exhaust Sounds of the 2017 Camaro ZL1

A few months back, I had a chance to take a hot lap in a prototype of the new 2017 Camaro ZL1, and it was pretty darned impressive. I have yet to drive the production version, but a few of my friends in the automotive media recently did, and it looks and sounds fantastic. When fully opened up, the ZL1 offers a deep baritone gurgle, accompanied by a roar and a handful of crackles as it revs.

One of the more interesting videos I’ve seen from the recent ZL1 launch event was shot by SaabKyle04, who spent some time going in depth with the ZL1’s awesome performance exhaust system. There are numerous settings which let you customize the valve positions for the exhaust, ranging from a not-so-quiet “stealth” mode, all the way up to a wondrous ear-candy “track” mode, which is the only mode I’d ever run this beast in. After all, if you’re going to drive a 640 hp supercharged V8 muscle car, you want people to hear you coming.
