Yesterday, during a practice session for the 2017 24 Hours of Le Mans race, Toyota put everyone on notice. During practice, Toyota LMP1 driver Kamui Kobayashi crushed the Circuit de la Sarthe lap record putting in a crazy-fast run that was two seconds faster than the previous lap record set in 2015.
His TS050 hybrid turned in a record setting time of 3:14.791. To put that in perspective, that time is faster than the pole time set for the circuit back in 1985 when there were FOUR fewer corners on the circuit. Fast lap is an understatement, and Toyota has clearly come to win. Watch the lap video above – and no, it’s not on fast forward.
