VW Boss Says I.D. Buzz Electric Microbus Will Go Into Production

I’ve always been a big fan of the style of the Volkswagen microbus and was really enamoured with the I.D. Buzz Concept. If you missed it, the I.D. Buzz is a thoroughly modernized and electric reboot of the class VW Type 2 bus from back in the day.

In a recent interview with AutoExpress, VW head Herbert Diess confirmed that an electric version of the van will go into production. Previously, VW Design Boss Oliver Stefani also had some words to say on the microbus coming to market. He noted that the original microbus also had variants, including the awesome camper vans of yore. Stefani noted that multiple versions of the electric minibus could be made. I think a lot of fans could get behind a modern VW camper van.

I hope they make a gas version of the camper van too, I would love one of those so I don’t have to worry about charging up while vacationing out in nature.
