New Ford GT500 Leak Hints at 200 MPH Top Speed and More

A few days back we talked about the images of the supposed Shelby GT500 engine that had turned up. Now, new information has surfaced which is reportedly from the Ford OEM service portal. The same images of the engine are turning up again along with a chart for speedometer verification that indicates a top speed of 200 mph, and a speedometer that goes up to 214 mph.

The leak also tips a 10-speed automatic transmission just like the one in the Camaro ZL1. Other leaked tidbits indicate the GT400’s brake system may have carbon ceramic brakes.

Carbon ceramic brakes would add massively to the price tag for the GT500 and as cool as they would be, I for one hope that they’re an option. The car is also rumored to be getting Magnetic Ride Control dampers that give up the track mode from the GT350, but gain a drag strip mode, as well as a specialized launch control mode, two signals that Ford is taking aim at the Dodge Hellcat and Demon with the GT500.
