BMW has gone official with the new 2019 M5 Competition, and it’s a real beast. The top of the line M5 features a 4.4L V8 TwinPower engine that makes 617 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque. The car might have a curb weight of 4,370 pounds, but that much power can push the car to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds.
If you mash the pedal for 10.8 seconds the car will reach 124 mph. All that power from the V8 goes to the road via an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission. In addition to the upgraded engine, the M5 Competition packs an M Sport exhaust with black chrome finishers and engine mode selections that impact sound output. BMW also fits the car with special suspension with higher spring rates for handling, as well as special engine mounts for improved performance.
The standard brakes are lightweight M units with six-piston calipers and vented discs. Carbon ceramic brakes are optional. All versions get special M light-alloy wheels and 275/35 R 20 tires front and 185/35 R 20 rears. MSRP for the new 2019 M5 Competition is $110,995, with production starting this July.
