Hellcat Miata: ‘Nuf Said

Engine swaps can be quite entertaining, especially when jamming a gigantic V8 powerhouse into a tiny 2-seater convertible. Recently, the guys at Hoonigan Daily Transmission went up close and personal with KarrMedia’s insane MX-5 Miata that manages to cram a 6.2-liter, supercharged SRT Hellcat engine under – and through – its diminutive hood.

It’s got a Tremec TR6060 six-speed manual gearbox and a Ford 8.8 rear axle, and with some smart tuning by the guys at VMP Performance, it manages to make about 685 horses at the wheels. To support the added weight of the 707hp Hellcat engine, the guys had to cram in some 10K springs up front. Somehow, the whole thing weighs under 2600 pounds even with that monster engine – though its weight balance is probably a little off.

It’s a totally insane build, and basically just a tiny burnout machine. In fact, it can do burnouts in 6th gear! That’s nuts. Check out this tire-shredding monster in action in the video clips below:
