2020 Dodge Challenger 50th Anniversary Edition Celebrates Half a Century of Awesome

If you can believe it, the very first Dodge Challenger rolled out all the way back in 1970. To celebrate this auspicious occasion, Dodge will be releasing a limited edition of its 2020 Challenger, with a number of special trim items to commemorate 50 years.

The first thing you’ll notice is the newly available high-impact paint color “Gold Rush,” which definitely harkens back to the colors you might find in the early 1970s. Along with that, the HEMI V8-powered R/T, R/T Scat Pack and R/T Scat Pack Widebody will get a body-colored Shaker hood scoop, adding to the drama of these already dramatic muscle cars. That functional hood scoop has a Mopar cold-air intake, a conical air filter, and an optimized air box to ensure optimal airflow to that big V8.

Each 50th Anniversary Edition gets slick “Air Catcher” headlamps with LED-illuminated “50” logos, as well as a satin black hand-painted hood, and black details on the roof and decklid. 50th Anniversary badging appears on the grille and trunk spoiler as well.

Inside, there’s “50” logo stitching on the super comfy looking Nappa leather and Alcantara suede performance seats, as well as on the floor mats, and on its gauge cluster. The real copper-weave carbon fiber trim adds a nice technical look to the cockpit as well.

Dodge will make just 70 of each permutation of model and high-impact color scheme for the edition, each getting a color-matched, numbered badge on the passenger air vent. In addition to Gold Rush, available colors include Frostbite, Sinamon Stick, TorRed, F8 Green, Go Mango, and the best color name ever: Hellraisin, which is of course a bright shade of purple.

If you do a little math… 6 colors x 4 trim levels x 70 units each = 1960 total 50th Anniversary cars. The limited-production 50th Anniversary Edition package ranges from $4995 to $5995, depending on the model, and will be available for Challenger GT RWD, R/T Shaker, R/T Scat Pack Shaker and R/T Scat Pack Shaker Widebody. In addition, every 2020 Challenger SRT Hellcat and SRT Hellcat Redeye will get a 50th Anniversary badge.

Buyers interested in the Challenger 50th Anniversary Edition can start placing orders this December, with cars hitting dealerships in early spring 2020.
