2021 Aston Martin Vantage Roadster Opens Up

The current-gen Aston Martin Vantage is a pretty incredible looking car in coupe form, but if you love open-air driving like I do, then you’ll be happy to know that the Vantage is now available as a convertible.

The new 2021 Vantage Roadster carries the same 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 found in the Vantage Coupe and the Mercedes-AMG GT, kicking out 503 horsepower and 513 lb-ft. of torque, just like the coupe. It’s mated to an 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox, and has an active electronic differential.

The car looks fantastic in the electric blue “Riviera Run” color shown here, and features a return to the classic Aston horizontal bar grille that’s absent from the coupe version.

The drop-top manages a 0 to 60 time of just 3.7 seconds – 0.2 seconds shy of the coupe, and its top speed is down to “just” 190 mph – and that’s with the roof raised. Still, that’s plenty of power and speed for just about anyone.

Aston is also touting just how fast its roof can lower and raise, opening up in just 6.7 seconds, and then closing in 6.8 seconds. It can perform either task at speeds up to 31 mph. And even with the top down, there’s still enough room for a set of golf clubs in the trunk.

While I’ve yet to get behind the wheel of any Vantage, the styling and performance specs of the roadster might just have me taking a trip to my nearest Aston Martin dealership to take one for a test drive.
