2021 Mercedes-AMG E63 S Sedan and Wagon Crank out 603hp

Mercedes-AMG has announced that it has extensively updated its very cool E63 S sedan and wagon for 2021. We are firm believers that if we need anything in the performance car world, it’s more hopped up wagons. Both of these cars share the same handbuilt 4.0-liter V8 bi-turbo engine that makes 603 hp and 627 lb-ft. of torque.

Buyers of the wagon will give up very little in the way of performance to the sedan when it comes to racing from naught to 60 mph. The sedan needs an estimated 3.3 seconds, while the wagon needs only 3.4 seconds for the same deed. The engine uses a pair of exhaust gas turbochargers with twin-scroll technology. Both vehicles offer selectable drive modes, including Race and Comfort modes. To help increase efficiency, the V8 features a cylinder deactivation system that operates between 1000 and 3250 RPM.

That system can deactivate four of the cylinders in the engine to improve fuel economy and reduce emissions. The V-8 engine is connected to an AMG Speedshift MCT nine-speed transmission, promising extremely short shift times and fast multiple downshifts when needed. The transmission also features a temporary manual “M” mode that immediately changes the transmission to manual shift mode by using either of the panels.

A look at the images shows a redesigned vehicle with a new rear design meant to “convey elegance and lightness.” The Sedan has flatter taillights that extend into the trunk lid, where they are visually linked with a trim strip in high-gloss chrome. On the wagon, the trim piece extends further up into the outer rear lamps. The wagon’s spoiler lip on the liftgate is painted body color but is available in carbon fiber with the optional AMG Carbon-Fiber Package 2. The cars can also be fitted with the AMG Night Package if so desired.

The interior of both cars has been refined and uses high-quality materials that Mercedes-AMG buyers expect. A range of new AMG-specific upholstery options are available, including Nappa leather in black/titanium grey with yellow contrast topstitching. The cars also get a new AMG performance steering wheel in a two-spoke design covered in DINAMICA microfiber or combination of leather and DINAMICA. Mercedes is also announcing additional “Hey Mercedes” features enabled by the artificial intelligence capability of the MBUX infotainment system.

Pricing and availability are unannounced this time. Check out the full list of details here.
