2021 Toyota Mirai Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle Price Drops by $9000
Toyota has done something with the 2021 Mirai fuel cell electric vehicle that all green electric vehicle fans will appreciate. As the technology has matured, Toyota has completely revamped the Mirai by adding new technology, safety equipment, a sophisticated new design, and a completely new platform, all while massively reducing the price. The new Mirai starts at $49,500, which is roughly $9000 cheaper than the outgoing model.
While being significantly less expensive, the vehicle also boasts a 30 percent longer driving range, and EPA estimated 402 miles for the XLE grade. The new car is also longer, wider, lower, and has a perfect 50:50 weight distribution for improved handling. Despite all of the upgrades and the lower price, Toyota still includes up to $15,000 of hydrogen fuel with the purchase or lease of the Mirai, which will be available only in California, where hydrogen fuel is readily available.
For 2021, both versions of the vehicle come with Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+, including full-speed dynamic radar cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, and blind-spot monitor with cross-traffic alert. The rear-wheel-drive platform Toyota chose is the same platform that underpins the Lexus LS. Other features include a standard digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen along with full LED lighting all around.
