One of two vehicles that Polestar announced at the 2024 New York International Auto Show last March, the Polestar 4 straddles the segments and price tags of its siblings. While the Polestar 2 is a performance coupe and the Polestar 3 is a luxury SUV, the Polestar 4 is the do-it-all crossover in the family and is actually the fastest production car from the Swedish automaker to date.
Your eyes are not deceiving you. For the sake of aerodynamics, the Polestar 4 has no rear window. The company spins the rear-mounted roof camera into a positive, claiming that it gets the driver “a far wider field of view compared to what is found in most modern vehicles.”
Helping this big coupe cut through the air are two powertrain options. The standard option is a single motor rear-wheel drive combo that produces up to 272 horsepower and 253 lb-ft. of torque. That can do 0 to 60 mph in 6.9 seconds. The premium dual motor all-wheel drive setup, on the other hand, gets you up to 544 horsepower and 506 lb-ft of torque, which translates to a 0 to 60 mph of just 3.7 seconds.
Both versions pack a hefty 100 kWh battery, aiming for over 300 miles of range for the single motor and a slightly lower 270 miles for the dual motor due to its extra oomph.
Moving on to other features, the Polestar 4 comes standard with 20-inch alloy wheels, an electrochromic glass roof, adaptive cruise control, a 360º parking camera with 3D view, and a 15.4″ central display to control the Android Auto-based infotainment system.
The optional Performance Pack that’s exclusive to the dual motor configuration gives you 22-inch wheels, Brembo brake calipers, Polestar-engineered brake discs, and performance chassis. The back does look sexy. The Polestar 4 already has a configurator on Polestar’s US website. The base single-motor variant starts at $54,900, while the fully decked-out dual-motor variant starts at $62,900.
