The 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Coupe Embraces Hybrid Power

Porsche recently unveiled the 2025 versions of the 911, with the 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS easily being the headliner, as it now has a hybrid powertrain. But don’t be disgusted just yet – it’s all in the name of performance.

As Porsche implies in its press release, the 2025 911 Carrera GTS isn’t the first 911 to have a hybrid heart. That honor, as Top Gear points out, goes to the 911 GT3R Hybrid from 2010. With that heritage in mind, know that the T-Hybrid powertrain in the new GTS wasn’t put in for fuel economy, savings, or other such mortal concerns. You can’t even plug the car in to recharge its battery, which is a measly 1.9 kWh and is the size of a 12 V AGM starter battery.

The 2025 911 Carrera GTS has a total system output of 532 horsepower and 449 lb-ft. of torque. That’s 59 more horsepower compared to its predecessor, with only a 103 lb. increase in weight. This allows the coupe to encroach further into supercar territory, with a 0-to-60 mph time of just 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 194 mph.

Aside from the electric motor that’s permanently boosting the new 3.6-liter 6-cylinder boxer engine, there’s also an integrated electric motor in the turbocharger. This smaller motor generates up to 11 kW from the vehicle’s exhaust, allowing Porsche to do away with the dual turbocharger setup for a single one while also claiming to improve throttle response and performance.

The 2025 911 Carrera GTS is now available to order starting at $164,900. The new 911 models are all two-seaters by default, though you can still opt for a four-seater configuration at no extra cost.
