BMW has finally revealed the 2025 M5 Touring, which will be making its way to the American market for the first time. The super-powered station wagon looks svelte in its press photos, but look at the numbers, and you’ll confirm that it is indeed a big boy in terms of both weight and performance.
As BMW previously teased, the 2025 M5 Touring has a hybrid powertrain. Its 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 and electric motor combine to produce up to a beastly 717 horsepower and 738 lb-ft. of torque. That lets it take off from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds. You’ll stay comfy and safe with the M tuning magic, perhaps forgetting for a moment that you are in a family car that weighs 5,530 lb. Top speed is 155 mph, but the M Driver’s Package boosts that to a whopping 190 mph. The M5 Touring can technically get by solely on its electric motor, but it has a measly 25-mile maximum range and a top speed of just 87 mph in that mode.
The 8-speed M Steptronic transmission lets you control the car’s power, with three transmission shift settings available in both automatic and manual modes. There’s also a new Boost Control that acts like a video game nitro when you’re going between 20 to 90 mph. Pull and hold the left paddle shifter for a second, and you’ll get immediate acceleration. On the wagon side of things, the M5 Touring has ample space for cargo, with a maximum capacity of 57.6 cubic feet. It also has a split rear diffuser should you want to tow with it.
BMW thankfully restrained themselves from putting an enormous kidney grille on the M5 Touring. It looks as sporty as a thick and round wagon could ever look, with flared wheel arches, side skirts, and a roof spoiler. Beneath that wide and low body is a network of bracing elements such as shear panels and a cross-bar.
M-branded eye candy is all over the interior, including its racing-style steering wheel, LED lighting that stretches out from the instrument panel to both front doors, and, of course, the M-specific control panel on the center console.
The 2025 BMW M5 Touring will be available beginning in the fourth quarter of this year, with a base price of $121,500.
