Most car wheels are made from aluminum alloy or steel, so you’d probably chip a tooth if you tried to bite into one. But what if that wheel was made from chocolate? Expert pastry chef Amaury Guichon is known for edible creations that are as impressive as any sculpture you’d see in an art museum. Presumably commissioned by Buick, Guichon made a chocolate version of an Envision Sport Touring wheel, and it looks exactly like the real deal.
The video at the bottom of this post shows how Amaury fabricated the realistic wheel and tire. The process included using a CNC cutting machine to slice out sections of the wheel’s face, which he assembled and glued together with melted chocolate. He then attached the pieces to a cylindrical structure and proceeded to shape the tire’s sidewalls.
After rolling on the tire’s outer belt, he painstakingly applied molded chocolate pieces to create tread patterns. At this point, the wheel and tire were chocolate brown, so the next step was to spray-paint it with edible pigments. He finished it off with a precisely hand-cut replica of the Buick logo.
Now, Amaury just needs to make three more of these and the rest of the Buick, and we’ll be ready to take this thing for a spin.
