The Genesis X Gran Equator Is a Concept Car for Luxury Overland Adventures

Genesis is showing off its first-ever adventure concept vehicle, and it’s not your typical dirt-churning beast. The X Gran Equator Concept takes the brand’s “Athletic Elegance” mantra and tosses it into the wild, literally. The crossover’s lifted, yet lean body has an overland-ready stance with the poise of a luxury grand tourer.

With the X Gran Equator, Genesis is going after the nature-seeking set; the kind of people who want to explore remote locales but prefer sophistication to rugged looks. Its long hood, fastback silhouette, and clean sheet metal look more like a sleek spaceship than a boxy trail rig, but don’t let the elegant lines fool you. This thing sits on 24-inch beadlock wheels with enough tread on its tires to get dirty, and the lower body cladding and integrated roof rack add to its trail-ready creds.

Inside, the X Gran Equator is retro-futuristic in the best way. Four analog-style display dials inspired by vintage cameras live atop the center stack. The dash is minimalist, with sharp angles and zero fluff. Swiveling front seats and modular cargo solutions mean it’s more than just pretty – it’s also functional. And every seat in the house is a good one, built for wraparound comfort and support.

The name “Equator” isn’t about latitude; it’s a nod to one of the most revered Arabian horses, known for strength, grace, and endurance. Fitting, since this Genesis concept aims to balance composure with capability, blending luxury with legit off-road potential.

There’s no word yet on whether this concept is heading for production, but elements like the twin-opening tailgate and quad sunroofs could be hints at where Genesis is headed next. One thing’s clear: if this is the future of off-road luxury, we’re very much on board. You can catch the X Gran Equator Concept on display at Genesis House in NYC through the end of July, for a closer look.
