Toyota GR Supra Racing Concept Previews New Supra
We’ve known for a pretty long time that Toyota has been working on a new Supra, but up until now, all we’ve seen are some camouflaged test mules, and 2014’s FT-1 Concept, which offered a glimpse into what the future Supra might look like.

10 of the Sexiest Lines from the 2018 Chicago Auto Show

10 of the Sexiest Lines from the 2018 Chicago Auto Show
If cars are indeed your thing, then what is the equivalent of having tasteful amounts of sex appeal? Does it go beyond beltline curves, carbon fiber, Alcantara, and aluminum? The vehicular landscape is one that comes littered with both staggeringly good and bad design touches, and while concepts like Infiniti’s insanely sleek Q Inspiration stirred the Detroit auto show this year, there’s a lot to love about Chicago’s shindig a couple weeks later as well. Chicago’s McCormick Place is the sort of split-hall structure that can accommodate throngs of buyers and journalists alike, a vaulted wonderland hell-bent on giving your feet blisters and an automotive experience like no other.

Concepts from Future Past: American Motors Astra-Gnome

Concepts from Future Past: American Motors Astra-Gnome
I have a strange affinity for unusual concept cars. One of the wackiest designs I’ve stumbled across in my travels has to be the American Motors Astra-Gnome, a “space age” concept that dates back to 1956. The car was designed by Richard Arbib as a look forward towards the future, incorporating design elements that made it look like hovercar of sorts – though it still rode on wheels.

Inside the Infiniti Q Inspiration: The Future Looks Fantastic

Inside the Infiniti Q Inspiration: The Future Looks Fantastic
Rarely do I get all antsy in my pantsy over a concept car, but when Infiniti rolled out its “Q Inspiration” creation at the 2018 NAIAS in Detroit, I was flat-out floored. Packing more smarts and sex appeal than Jennifer Lawrence at a wine tasting, and rolling out on stage under its own power, the sensationally shaped 2+2 sedan is exactly the kind of creativity many of us wish to see in the brand moving forward. In order to get a better grasp of what all of this futuristic foreplay means for the luxury Nissan offshoot, I sat down with the new Executive Design Director for the brand, Karim Habib, and came away with a healthy cache of key insights.

2019 Ford Ranger Revealed: Return of the Badass Half-pint Pickup
Remember the step-side Splash edition of the Ford Ranger, with its bright yellow paint scheme and vibrant 90s era “splashed” decal accents? Yeah, forget that noise. None of that crap will be getting brought back on the reborn 2019 version of the pickup, and in their place buyers are sure to find a far more focused machine.

Concepts from Future Past: 1981 Ford Bronco Montana Lobo

Concepts from Future Past: 1981 Ford Bronco Montana Lobo
Ford truck fans in the U.S. have been clamoring for the return of the Bronco for many years. Sadly, we’ve yet to get a new model, or even a concept design to drool over. To tide you over, check out this unusual concept variant of the Bronco, which turned up back in the early 1980s at the Chicago Auto Show. The 1981 Ford Bronco Montana Lobo concept was an updated take on the compact pickup, doing away with the fully-covered bed, and going with an open-air seating area, complete with foam-filled seating benches on the sides of the bed.

Concepts from Future Past: Ghia Gilda Streamline X Coupe

Concepts from Future Past: Ghia Gilda Streamline X Coupe
During it partnership in the ’50s, Chrysler teamed up with famed Italian design firm Carrozzeria Ghia to create a unique concept car, and the results were quite spectacular. Ghia’s Giovanni Savonuzzi created the Streamline X to fulfill Chrysler design boss Virgil Exner wishes for a space age future car that incorporated elements of jet planes and rocket ships into its styling. Nicknamed “Gilda” after the 1946 Rita Hayworth classic film, the Streamline X really did look like a rocketship on wheels.

Toyota FT-AC Concept: The Rugged RAV4 We’ve Always Wanted

Toyota FT-AC Concept: The Rugged RAV4 We’ve Always Wanted
In all honesty, there weren’t a whole lot of interesting new vehicles at the LA Auto Show this week. Too much of what we saw were just different sizes of crossovers to fill in automaker’s lineups.

Lamborghini Terzo Millennio is an Electric Hypercar from the Future
We all know that electric drivetrains are going to be a big part of our automotive future. Between concerns about the environmental impact of fossil fuels, the improvements in battery and motor tech, and the proliferation of recharging infrastructure, it’s only a matter of time before electric motors are in virtually every new car, either as a primary or secondary mode of propulsion.

Concepts from Future Past: Toyota EX-III
Shown for the first time at the 1969 Tokyo Motor Show, the EX-III was a sleek and hypermodern sports coupe. The car was designed in-house by Toyota, rather than by the typical European design firms used for concept cars at the time. The EX-III featured a low-slung, aerodynamic body with a pointed front end, sculpted headlamps and no bumper.

Mazda KAI Concept: Please Let the Next Mazda3 Look This Good
For the last few years, Mazda has been pushing its entire line into their muscular and dynamic “KODO” design language with great success. If you ask me, it’s the most distinctive, consistent, and identifiable look that any automaker has on the road today.

Concepts from Future Past: 2001 Ford EX
Usually, when an OEM shows up at an auto show with a concept car, it’s a vision of a future design direction, new technologies, or a preview of an actual production vehicle. But on occasion, a concept car is simply a flight of fancy to attract attention and media buzz. Back at the 2001 Detroit Auto Show, Ford turned up with just that sort of concept car – the Ford EX.
