Chevrolet Camaro Zl1

Last year, Hennessey Performance showed off their attempt to crush the monstrous Dodge Challenger SRT Demon with their Camaro ZL1-based monster The Exorcist. Now, the guys from Hennessey have proven just how impressive their tuned gen-6 Camaro really is by demonstrating just how fast it can go.

The 6th generation Chevy Camaro has demonstrated its impressive handling and speed on numerous occasions, and now the race-spec’d Camaro ZL1 1LE has gone and set a record for the fastest lap around the Nürburgring ever in a Camaro.

Early last month, Hennessey Performance announced that it had built a car specifically designed combat the Dodge Demon down at the drag strip. The car is called The Exorcist and it is a hopped up Camaro ZL1, making a claimed 1000 hp at the crank.

A few months back, I had a chance to take a hot lap in a prototype of the new 2017 Camaro ZL1, and it was pretty darned impressive. I have yet to drive the production version, but a few of my friends in the automotive media recently did, and it looks and sounds fantastic.

Chevrolet has taken the 2017 Camaro ZL1 and put it on the Nürburgring for a fast lap. It turns out the 2017 version of the ZL1 is much, much faster around that track than the 2015 version.
