Crossover

Normally when I think of Ford and SEMA show cars, it’s all about custom Mustangs, which abound at SEMA every year. Ford is making a big push this year to get customizers and car folks to want its new SUVs and crossovers.

The other day I mentioned that the next generation Juke would be using a shared platform that is a result of the Renault-Nissan partnership. Today Nissan has offered up a single teaser image and all we know is that it will be a crossover concept to debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show next week.

I’m not sure if Sir Mix-a-Lot would double up on this bubble, but the backside of the Infinity QX30 concept looks pretty darned good. This lone teaser image is all Infiniti is showing off the new QX30 crossover concept it will unveil in Geneva next month.

One of the more intriguing concept designs to be shown in advance of the upcoming 2014 Paris Motor Show is the Peugeot Quartz Concept. The futuristic crossover SUV is designed to combine modern materials, along with powerful, sporty driving dynamics.

Auto enthusiasts and performance car fans head to Austria each May to attend Wörthersee, and in 2014 Škoda will be bringing an aggressive sport compact SUV to the show, the Yeti Xtreme Concept. The concept car shows off bold styling both inside and out, with a shocking matte-grey paint and contrasting yellow-green roof and wheel inserts.

Volkswagen will be introducing a new concept vehicle at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show that looks to us like a close cousin of the Audi Shooting Brake Concept we saw in Detroit and the sister of VW’s CrossBlue Coupe Concept.

BMW has announced a new variant of the BMX X6 M crossover. Only 100 units of this limited edition model, the Design Edition, will be made. The vehicle is upgraded with sporty red and blue striping along along the hood and lower body panels.

Sporting a dynamic and futuristic look, the KIA Niro urban concept prognosticates on where utility vehicles might go in the near future. We love its bold lines and the aggressively squashed take on KIA’s trademark “tiger nose” grill.
