One of the more interesting things to happen to the Jeep Wrangler in recent memory was the addition of a diesel engine option. Since the Gladiator pickup debuted, the only available engine has been the gas V6, but an EcoDiesel option is coming to the truck as well.

Fuel economy and high-performance aren’t things that are typically said in the same sentence. Sure, the Tesla Model S can be speedy and doesn’t burn an ounce of gasoline, but it needs charging. Now a car builder has constructed an exciting car that aims to be fuel-efficient at over 100 miles per gallon while promising a 0-60 mph time of under four seconds.

Ram has announced that its third-gen EcoDiesel 3.0L V6 engine will debut in Q4 2019. The engine will be available in all Ram 1500 models, meaning that Ram Rebel buyers can get diesel power for the first time.

Jeep fans have anticipated a couple of big things over the last few years. One was the launch of the updated JL Wrangler, and other the was the diesel engine option coming to the Wrangler. A JL Unlimited Wrangler was spied by Car and Driver photographer Brian Williams on the streets of Michigan, and it was wearing a 3.0 D badge on the rear.

“It’s about damn time,” should have been Ford’s product punchline for the F-150 Power Stroke pickup, because every time I spoke with someone about this diesel V6 option, they said the exact same thing. No comments on the color.

First let’s get one thing cleared up right off the bat, this isn’t a truck review. It’s an engine review. Because nothing – not a single bolt, body panel, or switch – on the F-150 has changed except for the turbocharged 3.0L V6 oil burner that’s under the hood.

Ford has gone and done something that will make truck buyers who fancy diesel power and fuel economy very happy. The new 3.0-liter Power Stroke diesel engine has been announced and it has an EPA rating of 30 mpg on the highway.

Mere months after witnessing Chevrolet reveal its all-new generation of Silverado trucks at the Detroit Auto Show, the Bowtie Brand has returned for another round of ruggedness. Referred to simply as “Silverado Class 4, 5, and 6 chassis cab trucks,” the American monsters pictured here are the brand’s first swing at hardcore conventional cabs, and are set to kick-start into production later in 2018, with order guides arriving this spring.

I have no problem with trucks or guys hopping up their turbo diesel trucks for performance. I do hate it when they rig the truck to belch black smoke, annoying all the other drivers on the road, and unnecessarily polluting the environment.

I don’t hate the environment. I very much like to spend time outdoors up here in Colorado, but I don’t worry too much about being green. Still, few things on the road get under my skin more than idiots in diesel trucks rolling coal.

At first glance, the current Mazda CX-5 isn’t an old vehicle. In a sea of crossovers that are currently on sale, it looks better than many of them and has the good driving dynamics present in all Mazda products.

The ’80s were a rough time for car lovers. Nothing really cool was available anywhere in the American auto scene until pretty late in the decade. I am a particularly big fan of the Fox body Mustangs from 1987 on.

Bentley has unveiled its very first diesel-powered vehicle in the form of the new Bentayga diesel. The ultra-luxury SUV has a 4.0L triple-charged diesel V8 engine that makes 429 hp and 664 lb-ft. of torque. Peak torque comes at only 1000 rpm to haul lots of well-healed arse.

All the additional scrutiny that diesel vehicles in the US have been put under is firmly the fault of Volkswagen, and the hoards of cheater diesels that the company sold here. After a long delay, the EPA has finally approved BMWs latest diesel cars for sale in the US.

Prior to this model year, Nissan wasn’t a brand most truck buyers even had on their radar screen here in the U.S. So it only makes sense that in order to re-engage in this ultra-competitive segment, that Nissan had to do something bold.
