Ford Mustang

Back in 2003, while most of us were lusting after the ’03 Cobra Mustang, Ford pulled out the concept car that showed what the ’05-’09 Mustang would look like. This 2003 Mustang Concept car was what kicked off all the retro styling that has been so fantastic in the pony car space.

Every year, members of the Texas Auto Writers Association (which I am a member) get together at Texas Motor Speedway and drive some cars. Like many professional auto writer groups, we then vote on what we think is best.

Ford has created a very cool new display for the National Inventors Hall of Fame on the USPTO Campus in Alexandria, Virginia. The display is of a 2015 Mustang attached side-by-side with a 1965 Mustang. The ’65 is a standard left hand drive model and the 2015 is a right hand drive model.

“It’s almost like taking a vacation after going for a drive in a car like this,” says lucky 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback owner Addison Lee. Heck, just watching this Petrolicious report on Lee’s classic American muscle is a brief, relaxing escape from the daily grind.

Back in the ’60s, you could go to Hertz and rent a real Shelby Mustang under the Hertz Rent-a-Racer program. Hertz and Ford have continued that relationship and starting on Memorial Day weekend in select Hertz airport locations around the country; you will be able to rent a Shelby GT-H Mustang.

Ford has announced something that it is doing with the Shelby GT350 that it started in 2012 with the Boss 302. Shelby GT350 and GT350R buyers get a free day at a performance driving school in Tooele, Utah.

You can posture all you want, but if you are a guy with kids in the market for a new car, and you bring up something with only two seats, your wife will probably say no.

Classic Recreations makes cool Mustangs that are called Shelby Continuation Cars. These are authorized reproductions of the Shelby Mustang from 1966 and 1967 that are made today, yet carry continuation Shelby serial numbers that picked up from the ’60s.

The folks over at Hennessey Performance Engineering have purchased a Shelby GT350 that is undoubtedly destined for life as a mule for developing upgrades. Before they set to modifying the car, they went out for a baseline test.

If you want a Mustang in the U.S., it’s as easy as finding a Ford dealership and inking up. If you want a special edition like the new GT350, those can be harder to come by and you have to fight other fans and allotment issues to get hands on one.

The 2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoost has a 2.3-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged motor making 310 horsepower, and 320 lb-ft. of torque. That power is sent to the back axle via a 6 speed manual transmission where it is presented to a limited slip differential with a very spritely 3.55 final drive ratio.

The pony car wars are hotter than ever thanks to the new and lighter Chevrolet Camaro and the updated Ford Mustang with independent rear suspension. While we wait for a Z/28 version of the new Camaro, Motor Trend decided it would still be fun to put the 2016 Shelby GT350R up against the 2015 Camaro Z/28 to see how they stacked up.

The Shelby GT350 and its racier brother the GT350R are two of the hottest performance cars that Ford has ever produced. Each year, Road & Track conducts a big test to determine which performance car is the best of the bunch.

Unless you are really into cars, you may have never heard the term restomod. A restomod is a car that is restored, but not restored to original condition. Often a restomod gets modern hardware underneath to make it drive and handle better than it did when it left the factory.
