One of the more unusual concept cars to emerge from the vaunted Italdesign Giugiaro was the Machimoto, an economy vehicle designed to sit somewhere between car and motorcycle. Based on the VW Golf platform, the car had an open top and a unique flexible seating system.

Concepts from Future Past: Maserati Boomerang
One of the many sexy designs from Giorgetto Giugiaro of Italdesign, the Maserati Boomerang was a concept that first broke cover in the early 1970s. It made its debut as a mockup back in 1971 at the Turin Motor Show, but later arrived as a fully functional, one-of-a-kind prototype during the 1972 Geneva Motor Show.

The 1980s weren’t exactly one of the best decades for cars – especially here in America. That said, there were still a handful of pretty great cars, like this awesome Giugiaro designed 1985 Lancia Delta S4 Stradale.

Awesome Car Pic: Maserati Bora

Awesome Car Pic: Maserati Bora
There are few Maseratis that excite me as much as the classic Maserati Bora. Designed by one of my personal favorite automotive designers, Giorgetto Giugiaro of Italdesign, the Merak was made from 1971 to 1978. The mid-engined sports car was powered by a 4.7- or 4.9-liter V8, and could muster a top speed of 171mph, which was quite impressive for its time.

The Nanuk Quattro is one of the more intriguing concepts to emerge from Audi. What makes the design of this car special is that while it packs sports car abilities, it’s got a higher than typical ground clearance and improved suspension, so it can handle rally car conditions.

Giugiaro Parcour Concept

Giugiaro Parcour Concept
This two-seater concept looks like what a kid would design if they were asked to make their dream car. Beyond its oversized, muscular wheel wells and tires, it breathes fire under its hood. It’s powered by a 5.2-liter 550hp V10 engine from a Lambo, placed mid-rear.
