Lamborghini Miura

Designed by Bertone’s Marcello Gandini, the Lamborghini Marzal offered a dramatic and futuristic look, with gull-wing doors, and its naturally-illuminated cabin. Its chassis started out as a Lamborghini Miura, but with an extended wheelbase so it could seat four.

Say the Lamborghini name, and a few models automatically come to mind. For me it’s the Countach and the Miura. Lamborghini recently showed off a fantastically restored 1971 Miura SV, made like new by their Polo Storico division. 

Lamborghini has pulled the wraps off a new special limited edition version of the Aventador meant to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the launch of the classic Lamborghini Miura. The special car is called the Lamborghini Aventador Miura Hommage and is at its core is a stock Aventador with special paint and trim.

Our pals at The Drive didn’t get invited to the gala 50th birthday celebration Lamborghini is throwing in honor of the Lamborghini Miura. Neither did I. I guess you need a Miura to get invited, because the “party” entails driving from the Lamborghini headquarters in Sant’Agata Bolognese to Florence.

The only version of The Italian Job that I have ever seen is the remake with Marky Mark. I have never seen the original from the ’60s, but now that I know it has a 1968 Lamborghini Miura in the opening sequence, I might go watch it.

Lamborghini has been making some of the sexiest exotic cars to come out of Italy for decades. One of the most gorgeous of all the cars Lambo has produced has to be the Miura. This particular Miura is even more special than the norm; it’s a 1968 Lamborghini Miura Jota SVR, being offered up by Bingo Sports While the original Jota prototype was destroyed in an accident, this Miura is just one of just a handful examples which were later converted by Lamborghini to the Jota spec.
